From Seed to Cup: The Journey of Green Coffee Beans

The journey begins when our carefully selected smallholder farmers plant coffee seeds in the fertile soil of these regions. Over time, the seedlings grow into coffee plants that produce cherries, which are harvested at the peak of ripeness. The beans inside these cherries are what we ultimately process and export, but the care taken during cultivation and harvesting plays a crucial role in the quality of the final product.

Once harvested, the beans go through a processing method, either washed or natural, depending on the desired flavor profile. Washed coffee is cleaned and fermented to highlight bright, clean flavors, while natural coffee is sun-dried, bringing out more fruity and full-bodied notes. At Elohe Coffee, we manage this processing ourselves at our washing stations in Sidama, ensuring that each batch meets the highest standards of quality.

After processing, the beans are carefully sorted and graded based on their size and quality. They are then packaged and shipped to global markets, where coffee roasters and lovers can enjoy the fruits of this labor-intensive process.
